Understand. Wonder Global

That Happened. What Next?

Something happened. Now what do you do with it?

Maybe it was an argument, a friendship that changed, something someone said, or a situation that didn't go the way you expected. Or maybe it was something bigger.

Or maybe you can't quite explain what's bothering you. You just know it's there.

Sometimes things stay with us longer than we expect. We replay conversations, question our reactions, or find ourselves feeling the same way in different situations. And sometimes we simply don't know where to begin.

That Happened. What Next? was created to give teenagers somewhere to start. It's a practical, interactive workbook that helps you explore what happened, make sense of what you're experiencing and work out what might help next.

You don't need to have all the answers. You don't even need to know exactly what you're feeling. You can start where you are.

Life doesn't come with instructions for everything.

There are plenty of things teenagers are expected to figure out. Friendships. Family. School. Relationships. Expectations. Changes. Decisions. And all the things that happen in between. Some experiences are easy to move on from. Others aren't.

You might know exactly why you're upset. Or you might find yourself reacting to something without understanding why it affects you so much. You might want to talk about it. You might prefer to work through it privately first.

We created That Happened. What Next? because having something happen and knowing what to do afterwards are two very different things.

The workbook gives you a way to slow things down, look at what's going on and decide what you need. Not by telling you what to think or how you should feel. By helping you find your own answers.

A different place to begin

A lot of wellbeing resources begin with a particular issue — anxiety, anger, stress or low confidence. But life doesn't always arrive with a label. Sometimes you just know that something has happened and it's affecting you.

That's where this workbook begins.

You don't have to decide what your problem is before you start. You can explore the experience itself, what you're noticing, how you're responding and what it might mean to you.

You might discover something you hadn't considered. You might recognise a pattern. Or you might simply find a better way to handle what's happening right now. There isn't a particular conclusion you're supposed to reach. The point is to understand yourself a little better and have more choice about what comes next.

How the workbook works

The workbook follows seven steps. Each one gives you a different way to look at your experience.

Understand Door - The Seven Steps - A Path Forward

Your experience. Your pace.

Not everyone wants to explore something in the same way. Some days you might only have a few minutes. Other times you might want to look a little deeper. And sometimes what's happening may feel too difficult to work through alone.

That's why the workbook offers three routes.

QUICK WONDER

For when you want a shorter way to check in with yourself and work through what's happening.

GO DEEPER

For when you have the time and feel ready to explore your experience in more detail, including feelings, needs and possible patterns.

I NEED SUPPORT

For when you would prefer help from someone you trust or need additional support with what you're experiencing.

You don't have to commit to one route every time. And you don't have to finish everything in one sitting.

Who is this book for?

That Happened. What Next? is designed for teenagers navigating the everyday and sometimes not-so-everyday experiences of growing up.

It may be useful when you're dealing with friendship difficulties, family situations, school pressures, changes, disappointment, conflict, uncertainty or feelings that are difficult to make sense of. You don't need to be going through a crisis to use it. And you don't need to wait until something becomes overwhelming before paying attention to how you're feeling.

The workbook can be used independently when appropriate, or alongside a trusted adult, counsellor or other support person.

For parents, carers and educators

The workbook provides a structured way for teenagers to explore experiences without requiring an adult to have all the answers.

It encourages emotional awareness, reflection, recognition of needs, practical coping strategies, decision-making and help-seeking.

It is an educational and reflective resource, not a diagnostic tool or a replacement for professional mental health care.

A few things you might be wondering

Do I have to work through the whole book?

No. You can choose a route that suits what you need and how much you feel ready to explore.

What if I don't know what I'm feeling?

That's okay. You don't need to know before you begin. The activities can help you notice and put words to your experience.

Can I use it more than once?

Yes. The workbook is designed to be revisited with different experiences. Returning to it may also help you recognise patterns over time.

Do I need an adult to help me?

Not necessarily. Some teenagers may prefer using it independently. Others may find it helpful to have a trusted adult nearby or work through parts of it together.

Is this therapy?

No. It's a practical wellbeing and self-reflection resource. It doesn't diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and it isn't intended to replace professional support. If you're feeling unsafe, overwhelmed or unable to manage what you're experiencing, please reach out to a trusted adult or qualified support service.

You don't have to work everything out today.

Sometimes understanding begins with something small. Noticing a reaction. Finding a word for a feeling. Recognising what you need. Realising you have another option.

That Happened. What Next? gives you a place to begin, and something to return to when life brings another experience your way.
